CONTROL VALVE TEST PROCEDURE

1990-05-01
HISTORICAL
J747_199005
This SAE Standard applies to hydraulic directional control valves as applied to self-propelled work machines referenced in SAE J1116. It describes a laboratory test procedure for evaluating: a Flow versus pressure drop b Leakage rate c Operating effort d Metering characteristics versus spool travel, pilot pressure, or electrical current e Relief valve characteristics The document applies to single and multiple section hydraulic directional control valves. This document illustrates axial, manually operated valves although the test procedure is applicable to other input forms such as rotary actuation, electric current, hydraulic or pneumatic pressure. NOTE—Performance characteristics such as metering hysteresis or dynamic response may have a significant effect on some of these tests.

REPORTING CLEANLINESS LEVELS OF HYDRAULIC FLUIDS

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J1165_198603
This SAE Recommended Practice has been formulated to advance and endorse the use of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Solid Contaminant Code as the universal means for expressing the level of particulate contaminant in hydraulic fluid and for specifying acceptable limits of cleanliness. Worldwide approval was gained for this coding system because it provides a simple, unmistakable, meaningful, and consistent means of communication between suppliers and users. The code applies to all types of hydraulic (liquid) fluids used in fluid power and control systems as applied to self-propelled machines as referenced in J1116.

HYDRAULIC POWER CIRCUIT FILTRATION

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J931_198603
This SAE Information Report is primarily to familiarize the designer of hydraulic powered machinery with the necessity for oil filtration in the hydraulic power circuit, the degree of system cleanliness required, types of filtration and filters available and their location and maintenance in the hydraulic circuit.

STANDARDIZED FLUID FOR HYDRAULIC COMPONENT TESTS

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J1276_198603
This Recommended Practice establishes a uniform specification for reference usage in specific documents, such as fluid power component test procedures, where a fluid designation is required.

HYDRAULIC DIRECTIONAL CONTROL VALVES, 3000 PSI MAXIMUM

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J748_198603
This SAE Recommended Practice has been set up by Subcommittee 4 of the Off-Road Machinery Technical Committee and is primarily for directional control valves on construction and industrial machinery equipment as referenced in SAE J1116. The purpose is to establish port area to flow relationship and match valve spool eye ends in relation to rated capacity. Port connections are optional for either the 4-bolt split flange connection or the internal straight thread "O" ring connection.

HYDRAULIC POWER PUMP TEST PROCEDURE

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J745_198603
This test code describes tests for determining characteristics of hydraulic positive displacement pumps as used on construction and industrial machinery as referenced in SAE J1116. In this code, metric equivalents are established according to SAE J916. These characteristics are to be recorded on data sheets similar to the ones shown herein. Two sets of data sheets are to be submitted: one at 120°F (49°C) and one at 180°F (82°C).

HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVE TEST PROCEDURE

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J747_198603
This procedure describes laboratory tests for establishing operating characteristics of hydraulic directional control valves used on mobile industrial and construction equipment as referenced in SAE J1116. These characteristics are to be recorded on data sheets similar to those shown herein. Two sets of data are to be submitted--one at 122°F (50°C) and one at 194°F (90°C). A separate set of data sheets is to be submitted for the cylinder ports closest to, and farthest from the inlet and outlet ports of a multiple section valve.

EXTERNAL LEAKAGE CLASSIFICATIONS FOR HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J1176_198603
This SAE Recommended Practice establishes a uniform guide for defining the degree of external leakage on a hydraulic system. The leakage classifications include dustry and dust-free conditions. The choice of classification is intended to be by visual means rather than with the aid of instruments. It describes the leakage state at the observed time, considering that the state may change over a period of time.

ASSESSING CLEANLINESS OF HYDRAULIC FLUID POWER COMPONENTS AND SYSTEMS

1986-03-01
HISTORICAL
J1227_198603
To describe laboratory methods for determining and reporting the contaminant level of the wetted portion of hydraulic fluid power components, parts, subsystems and systems, and of fill fluids. For each type of item it provides a method of obtaining the liquid sample and the contamination level thereof. It also includes procedures for establishing a sampling plan and guidelines for establishing levels of acceptace, but does not set those levels.
